Accrediting In: Ghana

AQAS e. V. is a non-profit association founded by universities in Germany in 2002, which is approved in Germany and Europe to carry out external assessment procedures for universities. AQAS carries out assessment procedures for program accreditation in all disciplines and for system accreditation.

In Germany, the German Accreditation Council has recently been created to manage all program accreditation in the country.  AQAS, and other organizations which previously accredited in Germany are now responsible for evaluating programs, and making recommendations to the GAC which then will make a decision related to awarding accreditation.

This impacts AQAS accreditation in Germany, but not in other countries such as Ghana where they remain an active accrediting body.

For programs in Germany, during this time of transition, Accreditation.org is listing German degrees accredited by the GAC itself. Accordingly, as the GAC works through many accreditation requests, if you need to clarify the validity of a program's accreditation, please check with the university in question and the GAC in order to confirm that a program you are considering in Germany has been accredited.
