The Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB) recently celebrated 60 years in operation and compiled a video of reflections from CEAB volunteers and interest holders across the accreditation system. This video offers a nice insight into the work done behind the scenes that makes the accreditation process possible. Bear in mind that across the globe, accreditation is largely managed by volunteers who are dedicated to supporting the quality of engineering education.
As explained by Philip Rizcallah, CEO, Engineers Canada, the achievement of sixty years of Canada's focus on accreditation “is a result of the dedication of volunteers, educators, regulators, and partners across Canada – and the expertise of the many people who have contributed to the accreditation process over the decades." "Their commitment has strengthened engineering education and upheld the trust the public places in our profession,” he adds.
Since 1965, the CEAB has been integral to ensuring that graduates of accredited programs are academically qualified to begin the process to be licensed as professional engineers in Canada. The board’s efforts have helped prepare six generations of engineers with the knowledge and skills they need to become licensed professionals.
