Spotlight: Accords, Labels, and Agreements

Agreements support recognition of international accreditation credentials.

An accreditation accord is a mutual recognition agreement by which two or more accrediting bodies agree to recognize the accreditation credentials of each other. Several accords have been signed over the last half century on accreditation in engineering, engineering technology and computing.

Labels have been developed which help provide guidelines for program content and structure, and can be awarded by those accrediting bodies which agree and are deemed able to apply the label to their accredited programs.

And, over the years there have been many meetings and agreements or declarations that have helped advance the current state of global engineering and computing program accreditation.

These all work collectively to provide a framework to support standards that allow for the mutual recognition of accredited engineering and computing degrees globally.
