Spotlight: New Signatories to the Washington Accord

Indonesia and Mexico now full signatories of the Washington Accord.

In 2022, the Washington Accord approved the transition of two accrediting organizations from provisional to full signatory status.  Both the Consejo de Acreditación de la Enseñanza de la Ingeniería (CACEI) in Mexico, and the Persatuan Insinyur Indonesia (PII) were approved on the basis of a virtual review.

In addition, the Saudi Arabia Represented by Education and Training Evaluation Commission (ETEC) has achieved provisional status, which is usually the first step toward full signatory status.

Signatory status within the Washington Accord has a goal of supporting international mobility within the engineering profession. In recognition of the substantial equivalency of engineering programs within member countries, the Accord recommends that graduates of programs accredited by any of the signatory members be recognized as having met the academic requirements for engineering in all signatory countries.
